Action Plan

Fiscal Responsibility

Ryan is experienced in business finance and has worked as a financial controller.  He understands how to budget and believes in planning for the future.

Communication

Early in his candidacy, Ryan heard from fellow residents that they did not feel they had a voice in our municipal government.  With Ryan Hart on city council, we will have a more informed and engaged Norwood.

Economic Development

Ryan believes in the potential of Norwood.  He believes that Norwood should have a forward-looking approach to city planning – balancing new economic development, while preserving city’s rich heritage and historic landmarks.

Fiscal Responsibility

Ryan is experienced in business finance and has worked as a financial controller.  He understands how to budget and believes in planning for the future.  In his current role with International Paper, Ryan is responsible for purchasing equipment and services for the company’s North American Paper Mills.  He will bring fiscal responsibility to Norwood City Council.  Today, Norwood can afford to support its Police and Fire Departments, maintain and repair its streets, and support other community improvements.  The problem has been a lack of financial responsibility.  Under the direction of the Fiscal Emergency Commission, Norwood has a plan to emerge out of fiscal emergency in the next few years.  However, we need leaders like Ryan Hart on Norwood City Council to ensure the long-term financial health of our city.

Increased Communication

Early in his candidacy, Ryan heard from fellow residents that they did not feel they had a voice in Norwood.  Calls and emails to municipal departments and some council members were left unanswered.  They felt ignored.  It has become apparent, that even communication between the municipal departments has become a problem.  On several occasions, some made very public, communication between local agencies and government leaders broke down entirely.  Ryan Hart will not only be an advocate for Norwood residents, but he will work to improve communication between the city and all constituents.  He will also work to restore communication, collaboration, and trust between local government agencies and departments.  With Ryan Hart on city council, we will have a more informed and engaged Norwood.

Economic Development

Ryan believes in the potential of Norwood.  In order to reach that potential, he believes that Norwood should have a forward-looking approach to city planning – one that balances new economic development, while preserving city’s rich heritage and historic landmarks.  Once elected, Ryan will work with the new leadership and the Norwood Building Department to develop a robust city plan, which will specifically target under-developed areas and vacant properties.  He will also work to remove barriers and improve transparency to help entrepreneurs get their businesses off the ground.  In Norwood, we have several community groups with a shared interest in a revitalized Norwood.  Ryan believes that we will achieve the best results by collaborating with these community leaders to pool ideas, energy, and resources.  Together, we can build a more prosperous Norwood.
